Pipedrive AI and Nova: every feature, plan and limit
Pipedrive AI is the set of AI features built into Pipedrive. The biggest is Nova, a meeting assistant that has been free on every plan since September 16, 2026. Nova records your calls, prepares you before them and, after each one, suggests field changes that you approve before they're saved. Around it sit the Sales Assistant (in beta), AI report creation, an AI import assistant, AI email tools on Premium and Ultimate, and Pipedrive's MCP server, which lets Claude or ChatGPT work in your CRM.
Checked against Pipedrive's help center and product pages. The MCP and merge results come from our own Pipedrive sandbox; we haven't run Nova there yet. Last checked: October 30, 2026. What we couldn't verify.
Pipedrive AI features by plan
Pipedrive's plans are Lite, Growth, Premium and Ultimate. This table comes from Pipedrive's Pipedrive AI article (updated September 3, 2026), the Nova articles and the MCP page.
| Feature | What it does | Plans and cost | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nova | Records calls, briefs you, suggests field updates | All, free | Suggestions come only from the transcript; you approve each one |
| Sales Assistant | Chat that answers about your deals and drafts notes | All, free (beta, selected users) | Answers and drafts only; its help article doesn't describe updating records |
| AI report creation | Builds an Insights report from a description | All, free (custom fields: Premium and up) | No dashboards, goals, pie or bar charts, tables or scorecards |
| AI import assistant | Maps spreadsheet columns to Pipedrive fields | All, free | Maps only to fields that already exist in your account |
| Business card scanner | Reads a business card in the mobile app | All, free | Mobile only |
| Marketplace AI search | Finds and recommends Marketplace apps | All, free | Only about apps |
| AI email creation | Writes an email with the tone and length you pick | Premium and Ultimate | Not available in group emailing |
| AI email summarization | Summary, sentiment, buying readiness and action items | Premium and Ultimate (beta) | Only threads you're on; 50 a day and 10 every 30 minutes per user |
| Suggested replies | Drafts a reply from the thread | Premium and Ultimate (beta) | Based only on that thread |
| AI notifications | Context-based insights in your notifications | Premium and Ultimate | Need a few weeks of usage first |
| MCP server | Lets your own AI read, search, create and update records | All, free (counts against token limits) | Can't delete, merge, bulk edit or undo |
Two related products are often filed under Pipedrive AI:
- Pulse is Pipedrive's prospecting toolkit: a prioritized feed, deal scoring, sequences and data enrichment. Its custom scores (Premium and up) are rules you set, for example +25 points for a criterion you choose. Pulse also has a separate AI engagement score.
- The ChatGPT app is a read-only connection that OpenAI built and maintains. How it compares with the MCP is in How to connect Pipedrive to ChatGPT.
Is Pipedrive AI free?
Mostly, yes. Nova, the Sales Assistant (in beta, for selected users), AI reports, the import assistant and the MCP server are on every plan with no add-on. The email features need Premium or Ultimate. We found no separate AI add-on or AI credits in Pipedrive's help center. The one metered piece is the MCP: Pipedrive says its usage "is subject to token limits based on your plan", and you can buy more tokens.
Nova in detail
Nova is Pipedrive's meeting assistant and AI notetaker. After a beta period, it became available to everyone on September 16, 2026 (Pipedrive newsroom). It opens in its own tab in Pipedrive.
What Nova does as a notetaker
Records the meeting, two ways. A notetaker bot joins Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams calls from your calendar as a visible participant. Or the Nova Companion desktop app (Mac and Windows) captures audio without a bot, which also covers other call tools and in-person meetings (Nova, updated September 15, 2026).
Briefs you before the call with your CRM data, emails, calendar and recent activity. It connects to Google or Outlook calendars, and to Gmail through its own connection, even if your Gmail already syncs with Pipedrive (Nova setup, updated September 14, 2026).
Writes a debrief with a summary, key takeaways and next steps, and can save it as a note on the linked deal, person or organization.
Suggests CRM updates to deal, person and organization fields, including custom fields. That covers labels on deals and organizations, and phone numbers and emails on people. Each suggestion shows the current value next to the new one.
Works from calls it didn't record. You can upload a transcript from another tool as a .txt, .pdf or .docx file (Nova meetings, updated September 10, 2026).
What Nova does well
The approval step is the right default for a CRM. Pipedrive's FAQ answers whether Nova changes data without permission with "No": it can add the summary and transcript as notes, but it won't change existing values until you approve (Nova page). Nova also flags a suggestion when the field changed in Pipedrive after Nova made it, so you don't overwrite a teammate's newer value. In Nova's AI settings you choose which fields it may suggest and add instructions per field, and admins can switch Nova on or off per user.
It's also the simplest option for a team that has no notetaker yet. There's nothing to connect and nothing to pay, and the recap is saved on the deal.
What Nova doesn't do
As of October 30, 2026, Pipedrive's Nova articles don't describe any of these:
- Updates from email or Slack. "Synced emails are not used as a source for suggested CRM updates." Emails feed the briefing only, and Slack receives briefs and recaps but can't apply changes.
- New records or tasks. The suggestions are field updates on existing records. Creating a new person or organization from the call, or a follow-up activity, isn't documented.
- More than one deal per meeting. The debrief goes to "a linked deal, person, or organization". A call that touches three deals at the same company isn't described.
- Other notetakers. There's no built-in connection to Granola, Fathom, Gong, tl;dv or Fireflies. The bridge is uploading their transcript by hand.
- An API. Nova has no tool of its own among the 51 MCP tools, and its help articles don't describe an API. What it saves as notes should be readable with the MCP's note tools; we haven't tested it.
Merging and undo are covered below.
Two settings to check when you turn it on: the bot joins meetings by default, and participant notices are off by default. Pipedrive leaves recording consent to the meeting host, with options for no automatic alerts, an email notice with opt-out, or required consent.
Native AI or your own AI?
The MCP server is the other half of Pipedrive AI. Instead of Pipedrive's own assistant, you bring the one you already use. Pipedrive's Nova FAQ calls MCP and AI assistants "reactive" and Nova "proactive", and adds: "Many teams use both together."
| If you want to | Use |
|---|---|
| Get a recap and field updates after each call, with nothing to set up | Nova |
| Prepare a call from the deal history | Nova's briefing, or ask Claude or ChatGPT through the MCP |
| Keep using Granola, Fathom or another notetaker | Your AI with the notetaker's connector plus Pipedrive's MCP, or upload the transcript to Nova |
| Ask open questions about your pipeline in your own words | The MCP with Claude or ChatGPT |
| Create several records from one conversation (person, org, deal, task) | The MCP, one record at a time, checking each one |
| Write emails with AI inside Pipedrive | AI email creation, on Premium or Ultimate |
| Change the same field on many records | Pipedrive's own bulk edit in list view (how) |
Your own AI is more flexible but asks more of you. Through the MCP, Claude or ChatGPT can create a person, then the organization, then a follow-up activity. But each record is a separate call with no preview of the whole set, and every call counts against your plan's MCP token limits. Pipedrive doesn't say whether those are separate from the API budget your whole company shares. On our sandbox that API budget reset at 07:00 UTC, not at midnight (what uses it up). The full list of the 51 MCP tools is in Does Pipedrive have an MCP server?.
What Pipedrive AI doesn't cover yet
Three things none of these features does, as of October 30, 2026:
Merge duplicates. None of Pipedrive's AI features merges. You merge in Pipedrive, one pair at a time, and Pipedrive says merged items "can't be un-merged". In our sandbox, merging two deals kept the primary's value (200) and dropped the other's (250) for good (what a merge loses).
Bulk edit from an AI, with undo. Pipedrive's own bulk edit works in list view, and since March 2026 Restore data lists bulk edits you can revert (we haven't run a revert yet). An AI can't use that feature: through the MCP it edits records one by one, and Nova edits the records linked to one meeting.
Undo an AI edit. Every MCP action is recorded in Pipedrive's change log, but nothing rolls it back. On our sandbox, Restore data had tabs for deleted items, bulk edits and bulk conversions, and none for single edits, which is how the MCP writes (and, from Pipedrive's description, Nova). Nova's help articles don't describe a revert either. If an AI overwrites a value, you find the old one in the change log and type it back.
Before you let any AI write to Pipedrive
- In Nova, limit the fields it can suggest to the ones your team actually updates after calls.
- Turn on participant notices if your meetings include people outside your company.
- With the MCP, start with read-only questions and ask the AI to list the exact changes before it writes.
- Export the records first when a change touches more than a handful of them.
What we couldn't verify
- Nova's languages. A beta-era version of the meetings article said English only, for selected users; the current articles don't list languages.
- Recording limits. Pipedrive publishes no cap on Nova meetings or minutes.
- Plan prices. Pipedrive's pricing page didn't load for us on October 30, 2026, so this guide doesn't quote prices.
- Where Nova's data lives and for how long. Retention isn't documented in the help center.
- Whether Nova's debrief notes can be read through the MCP. We haven't tested it.
- How many tokens MCP actions spend and whether they share the API budget. Pipedrive doesn't publish it.
Where Pipehand fits
Pipehand is planned to launch in April 2027 as a replacement for Pipedrive's MCP, meant to do everything the official connector does plus merging, bulk edits that show first how many records will change, approval for large changes and undo.
After launch, we plan to make Pipedrive update itself after every meeting: your meetings, email and Slack keeping the whole CRM up to date, not just one deal's fields. That would mean the new contact, the duplicate the call revealed, the organization, the related deals and tasks for others, using the AI and the notetaker you already use, with approval before and undo after. Nova would be one more source, not a rival.
If you want your CRM to update itself after every meeting, with an undo button, join the waitlist on pipehand.com.
FAQ
What is Pipedrive AI?
It's the name for the AI features built into Pipedrive: Nova (meeting recording, briefs, recaps and suggested updates), the Sales Assistant, AI reports, the import assistant, AI email tools on Premium and Ultimate, and the MCP server that connects Claude or ChatGPT.
Is Pipedrive Nova free?
Yes. Pipedrive says Nova is included in all plans at no additional cost, for every user, since its general release on September 16, 2026. Admins can switch it on or off per user.
Does Pipedrive have an AI notetaker?
Yes, Nova. It joins Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams calls as a visible bot, or records through its desktop app without a bot, and saves the summary on the linked record.
Does Pipedrive Nova update the CRM automatically?
No. Nova suggests changes to deal, person and organization fields, and nothing is saved until you approve it. It can add the meeting summary and transcript as notes on the linked record.
What is the Pipedrive AI Sales Assistant?
A chat inside Pipedrive that answers questions about your deals, activities and contacts and drafts text for notes and emails. It's in beta on every plan for selected users, and its help article doesn't describe it updating records.
Can Pipedrive AI write emails?
Yes, on Premium and Ultimate. AI email creation writes a draft with the tone and length you choose, and two beta features summarize threads and suggest replies.
Does Nova work with Granola, Fathom or Gong?
Not directly. Nova records with its own bot or desktop app. For a call recorded elsewhere, you can upload the transcript as a .txt, .pdf or .docx file and Nova works from that.
